THE PURPOSE of this web site is to serve as an informational tool for those who are already enrolled, and provide some basic information to families who are considering our program.
We are excited to be here, providing high quality child care for children two and a half years old through the sixth grade since 1964. Our school, located in southern Colorado Springs is medium in size and large in care and service to children and their families. We are uniquely situated in a comfortable setting with four separate and distinct classrooms. Our playground is relatively large and accommodated with a full array of shade trees and play equipment, including good old sand boxes.
Our history begins in the summer of 1965 when Mary Adragna Hook started the child care center with six children located at the same location as we are today. Penny was very successful due to the personal love and concern she had for each child. Many of Penny's original children have been parents and even a few grandparents of children enrolled today. We are fortunate to occasionally call on Penny for good solid advice, at 84 years old she is still a great source of guidance.
Since 1986 we have been owned and managed by Penny's son and daughter in law, Kelly and Patrice Adragna. Kelly and Patrice have operated the school with the same sort of attention to the individual child and their families as was apparent in the previous years. For Kelly, this career opportunity came after serving for three years active duty in the US Navy. Kelly met Patrice while attending early child hood development classes at PPCC and were married one year later. Today Kelly and Patrice have two son's, nineteen and eleven years of age.
We think children should be kept safe, not only from injuries and accidents but from the elements that can take away the child like spirit from our son's and daughters. we feel that children should simply, be kept children. While here at our school we will do our utmost to preserve this precious stage of your child's development.
We believe that goodness and values are important to the overall outcome of a child's development. This is why we make no attempt to hide our Christian beliefs. Even though we are not considered a religious organization and we have no plans to adopt a religious curriculum, families must be aware that this minor school is founded in Christianity. Some are offended by this statement of faith, for those we will have respect. Today we serve families from all beliefs, from Atheism to Muslim, and are thankful for all. We are not here to be a church, but rather an environment full of enrichment, love and excellent early education. I am happy to answer specific questions if it will bring about a greater understanding, (please don't hesitate).
